A man proposes to his girlfriend during his acceptance speech for his Emmy Award. And they say this stuff doesn’t happen in real life.
I dare you not to cry!
Hollywood loves a good sappy love story and this one happened on live TV. Last night during the 2018 Emmy Awards, Glen Weiss won the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for his work directing the Oscars. And one thing is clear, the man is a master at making good live TV. He began his speech revealing why this moment was bitter-sweet.
He added, QUOTE “Part of my heart is broken, I don’t think it will ever be repaired, but she’s in me and she always will be.” Cue the romantic twist in his speech. QUOTE “Mom always believed in finding the sunshine in things, and she adored my girlfriend Jan. Jan, you are the sunshine in my life, and mom was right, don’t ever let go of your sunshine.

You KNOW every woman in the room was thinking, why didn’t my man propose like THAT?! Including Leslie Jones.

Anyway, Glen’s girlfriend Jan Svendsen, aka the envy of every woman that night AKA, did make her way to the stage as the entire house rose to their feet clapping and cheering for the proposal. Glen took her finger and said QUOTE “Jan, I want to put this ring, that my mom wore, on your finger in front of all of these people and in front of my mom and your parents watching from above. Will you marry me?” Of course she said yes! Betty Gilpin looks exactly like how I feel after watching that proposal. (SHOW )
I mean, the whole show became about them at that point. Later in the night, when The Americans star Matthew Rhys won for Lead Actor in a Drama, he said this about his famous girlfriend and fellow nominee Keri Russell…
