Brand new footage of the highly anticipated season of Orange is the New Black has officially been released, featuring more suspense, more drama, and a shocking unity of inmates.
Based on last season’s intense cliff-hanger, it’s safe to assume that season 5 of Orange is the New Black is about to go off with a “bang”…
The Ladies of Litchfield have officially hit their breaking points as seen by the first minute of Season 5 was just released by Netflix this morning right where season 4’s cliff hanger left us literally hanging. Based on the footage released, the new season kicks off with Daya pointing a gun at the head of abusive correction officer Chris Humphrey – and the burning question remains: to shoot, or not to shoot? Take a look:
After being targeted for 13 episodes of abuse from the Litchfield guards, Daya was presented with the opportunity to pick up a gun that got loose, and aim it at the guard. This also comes on the heels of the tragic and untimely death of one of the series’ fan-favorite characters, Poussay, played by Samira Wiley. Menwhile, Piper and Alex are attempting to stay out of trouble as they notice the riot but run the opposite direction in an attempt to stay out of harm’s way.
Dascha Polanco, who plays Daya, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter after the season four finale that QUOTE, “The boiling point has tipped over. At this point, Daya is thinking, 'F— everyone. I’m going for it.’”
The fifth season will take place over the span of three days in real time, and has been described as an “unprecedented” season. The past seasons have a tendency to be vague in revealing timeframes, such as the inmates’ remaining sentence spans, which makes this three-day span the shortest amount of time for a season to be based on.
Following the outcome of this season as the inmates fight for the respect they deserve, life at Litchfield will clearly never be the same again. The new season is set to be released to Netflix in its entirety on June 9th, so be sure to clear your calendars for your next Netflix binge in just a few short months.
