‘Girl Meets World’ is coming to an end and the show’s cast members are feeling some type of way.
You know what they say, all good things must come to an end and right now, that good thing is sadly ‘Girl Meets World.’
Before 2016 ended, Rider Strong hinted on his podcast that the demise of ‘Girl Meets World’ was nearing, but nothing was confirmed until now. Late last night, the writers of ‘Girl Meets World’ confirmed the end of the show by tweeting out QUOTE, “It is with incredible pride in our work and complete sadness that things end, that I report to this wonderful audience that our show is over.”
The house of mouse also released a statement regarding the end of GMW where they thanked the cast, crew, creative team and more for all their hard work. They also revealed that the series finale of the show will air on Friday, January 20th and will showcase a huge Boy Meets World reunion.
Rowan Blanchard, Sabrina Carpenter, and a few others from the show took to social media to express their gratitude and sadness at the news. Rowan wrote a lengthy letter on Instagram in where she thanked the creator of the show as well as the fans who tuned in.
She wrote QUOTE, “I will never be able to put into words my gratitude for Michael Jacobs, the creator of our little world, for bringing us all together – by all, I mean us and you. Being on Girl Meets World is the most significant event in my life thus far, it changed absolutely every aspect of it, and takes up most of the life I am able to remember…I am above all humbled to know I belong to such an extraordinary generation. What an honor. I love you. I love this cast. I love this crew. I love Riley. I love this world we made. I love that it is now your world.”
And like Rowan, Sabrina also shared her message via Instagram by saying QUOTE, “To the family that was created on our set, between the cast and crew, thank you for giving us the ability to make mistakes and to grow. I felt so safe in that bay window. Thank you Disney for giving this show and these characters the chance to see the light of day. I know I feel very lucky to have given life to Maya Hart. MJ – without you, I wouldn’t know most of what I do. To everyone that watched our show and felt something, thank you. To everyone that grew up watching Boy Meets World and decided to give our story for a new generation a chance, thank you. And to the little girls reading this, you can do whatever you put your mind to. You’re gonna meet the world now, and I think you’ll love it.”
Rowan and Sabrina’s other cast members shared short, yet sweet messages on their personal Instagrams. Auggie shared a positive photo with a heartbreaking emoji in the caption while Ava thanked Michael Jacobs and the writers and creators of the show for the life changing experience.
While this cancelation came as a shock to the show’s many fans, it should be noted that almost all Disney Channel shows are on for three seasons and if they’re SUPER popular, they’ll get a fourth.
