Hocus Pocus Disney Channel Remake In The Works With NEW Cast

Hold on…. a Hocus Pocus REMAKE? An all-new cast? WITHOUT Bette Midler? I may need some more time to process this.
Anyone who is EVERYONE looks forward to the entire month of October, not for dressing up, not for the endless amounts of candy, but for Hocus Pocus reruns… you know, the movie about the Sanderson witches who were awoken from the dead when a virgin lit the black flame candle – yeah, that movie.
For years now, there have been talks to reboot the 1993 film, and there seems to be no better time to do it considering the slew of ‘80s and ‘90s remakes coming out of the woodworks, so on that note, we’ve got some news, and you probably know where we’re going with this... A Disney Channel spokesperson has confirmed a new iteration of Hocus Pocus in the early development phase, with a script from The Royals' Scarlett Lacey and one of the original film’s producers, David Kirschner, returning to exec produce.
One of film’s original screenwriters, Mick Garris, told Forbes opened up about the film that’s been loved from every generation, saying QUOTE, “It's kind of remarkable and fantastic to have something brought to the screen like that and to have it embraced generation after generation. Everybody I meet, it's either their daughters or their own favorite movie and it's incredibly exciting.”
He also went onto say that after rumors of a reboot for about 10 years now that, “I have heard they are developing the script, I haven't been involved in it but I think there will be a sequel it might be for Disney Channel or Freeform or ABC. I think it will be for television but I hear that it is moving ahead.”
Sounds like a dream-come-true, BUT what irked many fans was that it was also reported that the remake will also feature a Brand. New. Cast. Thankfully there’s this thing called the Internet that gave their two cents on the upcoming cast. Fans across the board have nominated Zendaya to be Allison, along with Chance the Rapper as Max and Quvenzhané Wallis as his little sister and Kendrick Lamar voicing Thackery Binx.
Another theory from the same Twitter user also wrote that the setting would now be in New Orleans and based on Voodoo queens, but she didn’t stop there - @VisenyaTheConquerer THEN suggested that the cast of Hidden Figures, including Taraji P. Henson, Janelle Monae and Octavia Spencer should be next in line to dethrone the old Sanderson sisters. This girl’s seriously got a lot of time on her hands, but someone’s gonna need to write this down and propose the idea to the writers, because this is one cast I can fully get behind.
