Harry Styles sat down with U.K.’s Bizarre Magazine where he opened up about his sexuality & surprised fans with his first-ever solo concert.
It was a big weekend for Harry, as it marked his first of many solo performances, and this is just the beginning.
Harry Styles is set to embark on his first-ever solo world tour in September, but to hold fans over for the time being, he performed a surprise gig in London on Saturday night for a lucky select few. Harry announced the show earlier in the day on Saturday, with a limited amount of tickets up for grabs, and played a number of songs off his new album, including a Kanye West cover of “Ultralight Beams”, giving the rap song his own Harry Styles twist. Take a look:
Although many were quick to assume that performing a Kanye song was an immediate dig at his ex, Taylor Swift, Harry likely performed the track to simply explore his range of talents in musical genres, so I say we scratch that rumor before it even becomes a thing.
Harry has continued to make his rounds from radio stop to publication, and recently sat down with UK magazine Bizarre where he opened up about the sexuality in pop music, using Miley Cyrus as an example, who came out as pansexual a few years back. He said QUOTE, “Being in a creative field, it's important to be progressive. People doing stuff like that is great. It's weird for me—everyone should just be who they want to be.”
Although it was reported that Harry shot down rumors that he was bisexual in an interview back in 2013 he mentioned this time around that he doesn’t feel the need to be defined by sexual orientation, saying, “It's tough to justify somebody having to answer to someone else about stuff like that. I don't feel like it's something I've ever felt like I have to explain about myself.”
And unfortunately, Harry is off the market, dating chef Tess Ward, but he managed to keep details about his love life under wraps, saying, “I try not to overthink too much. I don't really talk about it, I guess. The rollercoaster affects different people in different ways. One of the ways that helps me dealing with that is compartmentalizing between working. All that stuff, for me, is just a different thing.”
Speaking of working, Harry also mentioned that he has and will never do anything to sabotage his professional life, and that includes hitting the party scene. He even revealed that he managed to stay out of it while being in One Direction due to being able to sing the next day, saying, “On the first couple of tours it was so exciting as we'd have a drink and go to parties. But for me, the albums got higher so they become harder to sing, so I knew if I didn't come off stage and go to bed I wouldn't be able to sing the next night.”
He mentioned that there is always a time and a place to celebrate, but knowing that he won’t have to stress over having to perform or do something the next day is much more worth it. So it’s safe to say you won’t find Harry throwing a rager before his debut solo tour sets sail, so you CAN expect 100% out of him come September 19th when the tour kicks off. Right now I want to know all your thoughts on Harry’s Kanye cover during his surprise show and all about his interview with Bizarre so get to talking right down here in the coments, and after that, click right over here to watch the first episode of It Got Real featuring our girl Erin Robinson.
