Jlaw should have been feeling pure JOY (wink) for winning the Golden Globe best actress in a comedy award for her film JOY- but there was no joy in that press room! Jen was taking questions from reporters when a journalist who was clearly foreign started reading off his phone to properly articulate his question. JLaw interrupted him and said QUOTE "You can't live your whole life behind your phone, bro. You can't do that. You gotta live in the now." The reporter immediately apologized but then Jennifer went at it again!
¬I feel so bad for that poor guy getting laughed at by the entire room and for being called out by an A lister in front of dozens of cameras! I love JLaw and usually I find her quirkiness adorable but this just came off as a bit entitled. I’m sure if she was in a foreign country and trying to ask someone a question in what isn’t her first language she too would be staring at her phone. Hence the twitter backlash. Here are just some of the tweets calling out Jen for calling out that guy. “Jennifer Lawrence is very young and I'm pretty sure when she's older she'll distinguish between "rude" and "English as a second language."” “Jennifer Lawrence criticising a guy for living life behind a screen seems dumb for someone who's just won an award for being in a movie” and “Jennifer Lawrence reminds me of all those condescending customer service reps who get rude to your parents cause of their accents.” I’m sure she didn’t mean any harm but don’t embarrass a guy who speaks broken English. I speak okay English and I often read questions from my phone when interviewing someone. I think all rich celebrities should trade jobs with like waiters and in this case interviewers once in their life so they understand how the other half lives. What do you guys think? Was Jennifer being cute or culturally insensitive?
