#KiniNews: Syed Saddiq worried AG will be used as ‘shield'; Senators told to maintain decorum

[KiniNews] Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman claimed that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has set a “clear precedent” when it comes to the dismissal of corruption cases in court.

“After this, when corruption cases are dropped one by one, the attorney-general (AG) - who is appointed by the prime minister – will be the main shield,” Syed Saddiq said, implying that the AG would be a scapegoat," he said.

This came following Anwar's explanation in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday on the AGC’s move to withdraw Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s charges which led to the Kuala Lumpur High Court granting the Umno president a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA).

Anwar had stressed that he did not interfere in the decision by the AG and had only asked for justification and clarification.

Meanwhile, in a separate story, Dewan Negara president Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has called on senators to to always maintain decorum in their debates.

He said he did not want the heated arguments that transpired in the Dewan Rakyat to occur in the Dewan Negara.
