Let’s face it – you never really need a reason to jet off to Las Vegas for a weekend, but Mother Monster just gave us endless excuses to start saving up for flights, like yesterday. Gaga has officially confirmed the rumors that she’ll be headlining her very own show in Las Vegas at the MGM Park Theater starting in late 2018.
She took to social media to share the news just yesterday, posting photos of herself decked out in Vegas attire while signing away the next two years of her life to the popular tourist city, writing QUOTE, “The rumors are true! I will have my own residency at MGM’s Park Theater. Get ready for a brand new show!! It’s been my lifelong dream to be a Las Vegas girl, I’m so overjoyed! LOVE YOU LITTLE MONSTERS WE DID IT, MEET ME IN Las Vegas!! #LasVegasGoesGaga”.
According to one source, Gaga is set to perform 74 dates with the possibility of a longer run. The deal is said to be valued at approximately $100 million dollars, with Gaga clearing a million-plus dollars per show to lock in $75 million over a span of two years. Not to compare salaries or anything, but Britney Spears’ two-year re-up at Planet Hollywood ranged about $30 million and her “Piece of Me” show has grossed more than $135 million since December of 2013.
Gaga is also promising that she’ll be creating a “brand new show” for the MGM venue, located inside Monte Carlo. She revealed during a press release that QUOTE, “It has been a life-long dream of mine to play Las Vegas. I am humbled to be a part of a historical line-up of performers, and to have the honor of creating a new show unlike anything Vegas has ever seen before. I’ll tell you exactly what I told my MGM and Park Theater partners – you can count on this performer always for one thing… I’ll leave my heart on the stage every single night. Thank you to my fans for always believing in me. Meet me in Las Vegas baby, we did it!”
Further details, including exact launch date and number of shows have yet to be announced, although MGM Park Theater’s official Instagram account implies that Gaga’s Vegas debut is set to launch in December of 2018.
Well, we’ve got about 365 more days to go, but on the bright side, that’s also 365 more days of perfecting what is promised to be one hell of a show – seriously, does Gaga ever disappoint?
