Lili Reinhart is opening up about filming those steamy love scenes with Cole Sprouse.
Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse have a TON of chemistry on Riverdale, but here’s what it’s really like for the actors to get intimate in front of the cameras.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that Lili Reinhart plays Betty Cooper and Cole Sprouse plays Jughead Jones on The CW’s hit show Riverdale. You with us so far? Good. Then you’ll also know that Bughead is one of the most adorable couples on television right now, partly because Cole and Lili have AMAZING chemistry on screen. But just because Bughead’s scenes are totally romantic doesn’t mean that’s how the filming process goes down. In fact, Lili recently told Entertainment Tonight that hooking up with her co-star isn’t quite as steamy as you’d think.
She explained QUOTE “I feel like it's very comfortable at this point. I mean, it's The CW -- you're not going to get too crazy. It's just like kissing and hugging.”
You’ll probably remember that Betty and Jughead’s only almost-sex scene got interrupted by the South Side Serpents last season, so yeah…it HAS just been a lot of kissing and hugging.
But even though Lili is super comfortable getting intimate with Cole, that doesn’t mean she thinks ALL on-screen love scenes are as easy. She explained QUOTE “We're all friends. It would be more nerve-wracking if you had to make out with someone that you didn't know. So if by chance we do end up having to kiss each other, it's fine and it doesn't feel weird."
Lili also revealed that fans will get a chance to see more of these scenes, as Betty and Jughead’s relationship is definitely going to progress throughout season 2, even though Jughead had to transfer to a different school. The blonde agrees with the phrase ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’ because it QUOTE “makes them appreciate one another more.”
Lili continued QUOTE “when they do get to see each other it is really romantic and passionate."
