Lorde just dropped a major truth bomb about Taylor Swift’s squad, saying she is NOT a part of her famous group of friends, and we’re just as surprised as you are.
So let me get this straight – if Lorde is out of the squad, that means there’s an open position – soooo where can one inquire about this? Asking for a friend. Kinda.
OH MY LORDE, what have we hear this time… Lorde has seemingly disassociated herself with Taylor Swift’s infamous ‘squad’ as she sat down for an interview on Australia’s Sunrise, saying that she is not part of Taylor’s squad, because, well, for starters, she doesn’t even hang out with those people. Check it out:
Ok, so when you really think about it, it makes sense, considering Lorde would probably never be caught hanging out with Beyoncé or Justin Timberlake by themselves – she’s really always landed in the presence of Tay’s famous friends by association. But to cope with being in the presence of some of her biggest idols, Lorde also admitted QUOTE, “The second you think too hard about it, you’ll just go insane, so it’s best to just think, ‘We’re in Wonderland, and that’s just what happens around here.’”
Many were shocked to hear about where Lorde says she stands with Taylor’s group of friends, especially since these comments come just a month after she was slammed for comparing her friendship with Taylor to an autoimmune disease, but let’s not get that confused with her standing with Taylor as a friend – the two have celebrated birthdays together and Taylor even supported and allegedly helped Lorde write her first single off Melodrama “Green Light”, so it’s safe to say their friendship isn’t going anywhere.
As for some of Lorde’s idols, she opened up about gaining a lot of wisdom from her parents, saying QUOTE, “My parents are so inspiring in different ways. We're a close family, and we're very different. My mom's a poet and very emotional; I'm a reader because of her. My dad's an engineer—very methodical and very calm. I take a lot from both of them, I think.”
She’s also set to kick off her 60-date world tour in Manchester on September 26th, and opened up about being such a different performer now than she was when she was 16. She said, “I feel like I can really lead a show with nothing but my body and a microphone and a pair of sneakers. The music lends itself more to a live atmosphere. It's stuff you can actually dance to.”
But until Lorde’s tour kicks off, you’ll likely not be seeing much of her in the spotlight, as she’s admitted many times before that fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be – so hey, maybe that’s why she tends not to associate herself with Tay’s friends, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but right now I want to know what you guys thought about Lorde’s interview about Taylor’s squad, so get to talking right down here in the comments, and after that, be sure to click right over here to check out a brand new episode of Get Jacked where the gang takes on roller derby.
