But if there’s one thing Miley wants fans to know, underneath the makeup, blonde wig and zebra-striped skirts, it was always just Miley.
Imagine being 13 years old, having your first crush, going through puberty during that cringe-y awkward stage, and OH YEAH – having your own tv show where you star as not one, but two different people. How Miley Cyrus kept her sanity is beyond me, but she has been very open about her time on Hannah Montana, and recalled it being nothing short of chaotic.
During an interview on CBS Sunday Morning, Miley once again opened up about her time Disney Channel saying that she liked her time on it because she didn’t know anything else and was doing what she wanted to do, but it wasn’t always rainbows and sparkles for Miley, as she also opened up about the experience of dressing up every day being a lot for her to handle as a kid.
Miley was then asked whether she looks back on her Hannah Montana days in a positive way, and we can all breathe a sigh of relief. Miley has no regrets about joining the Disney franchise, but did say that touring as both Miley AND Hannah might’ve contributed to some emotional distress.
She said QUOTE, “I think that’s probably what’s a little bit wrong with me now! I mark that up to doing some extreme damage in my psyche as an adult person.” Ok so she did technically joke about it, but I can only imagine the identity crisis of being two people, let alone being a teenage girl as one person.
Thankfully Miley did end the interview on a positive note, generally understanding why everyone loves Hannah and bringing it all back to the girl under the wig.
So moral of the story here – Miley Cyrus still loves Disney, has no regrets, some emotional distress, and a slight identity crisis – sounds like my teenage years all over again! But in all seriousness, we’re glad the girl under the blonde wig has finally come full circle and found herself.
