Niall Horan gave the performance of a lifetime over the weekend, surprising a crowd of thousands in what will officially go down as his first ever solo gig.
Get those tissues ready, because this performance is quite the tear-jerker.
Somehow managing to keep his appearance a secret up until the moment he stepped onto the stage at BBC Radio’s R1 Teen Awards in Wembley on Saturday, Niall Horan left fans speechless as he performed his hit single “This Town” for the first time in front of a large audience.
BBC radio host Nick Grimshaw hinted at a Niall appearance just seconds before he took the stage, in a skit as he called up Niall, or Ni-Ni according to Nick, saying that it was show time… and you can only guess how the audience reacted…
Clearly Niall’s first performance as a solo artist was a success to say the least, however it wasn’t all smooth sailing as the audio cut out for ten seconds halfway through the song, but with a little help from the audience who sang right along with him, he quickly continued as if nothing happened.
Niall tweeted following the show, saying QUOTE, “Great to perform at @bbcr1 teen awards. Good to be back on stage in front of a crowd, nothing better. Thanks for having me radio 1.” Many fans also took to Twitter to express their excitement and kind words toward Niall, including a tweet from one surprising supporter.
Despite rumors that Niall and Simon Cowell are currently feuding following reports that Simon is very upset about Niall’s decision to not sign a solo deal with his label SyCo and banning Niall from any future X Factor performances, he took to Twitter to clear the air and give his congratulations, saying QUOTE, “Loved the show tonight. A long night. Reading some stories. To be clear I would never 'ban' anyone from One Direction appearing on the show.”
Thankfully, there seems to be no bad blood between these two, and hopefully this DOES mean that we’ll get to see Niall make his way back to the X Factor stage in the near future, but right now I want to know all your thoughts on Niall’s first ever solo performance over the weekend, so get to talking right down here in the comments, and as always be sure to subscribe to Clevver News by clicking that box right there!
