Nicki Minaj reveals just how incredibly powerful it feels for her to be single.
This is one Queen who doesn’t need a king to conquer the world.
For the first time in a really long time, Nicki Minaj is a single pringle and she’s actually embracing this newfound freedom with open arms. In her Elle profile, Nicki revealed that she has grown so much in the last six months of her life and career than she has in the last eight years and she credits it all to being single.
Obviously Nicki has no regrets while being in all of those serious relationships since the young age of 15, but she did admit that being in those serious relationships came with consequences that she didn’t anticipate.
Nicki said QUOTE, “I remember feeling like I could do anything at one time in my life and somewhere along the line, I just started second guessing myself, for whatever reason…as soon as I realized that I could actually live and breathe, and eat and sleep, and walk and talk without having a boyfriend, something clicked in me. Becoming single was one of the things that made me feel strong and powerful. The fact that I am a young woman who doesn’t need a man for money. I don’t need a man for a job. I’ve never had to f—k for beats. I’ve never had to f—k for a record deal. I don’t have those pressures. I get up when I want, shop when I want.”
That’s a pretty powerful statement, don’t you agree?
Aside from opening up about her current state of mind, Nicki also surprisingly talked about Meek Mill – who, at the time of the Elle interview, was still in jail.
When the journalist brought up the topic of Meek and the fact that his release was denied yet again by Judge Genece Brinkley, Nicki said QUOTE, “I wouldn’t wish that on anybody. But I’m also not gonna bad-mouth a judge who…because anything I say stays on the record. I know that when I went there pleading for his freedom, I know that she [Judge Brinkley] spoke to me and was very sweet and maternal, and we both cried in her chambers, and she gave him another chance. So I don’t know what’s going on.”
