It is hard to believe one year ago we were saying our vows and eating Asado in the backyard of Audrey's parents house. Time sure does fly and to say life was a little hectic during our first year of marriage would be an understatement.
Shortly after tying the not we took a trip to Quebec City, visited Fredericton, Honeymooned in Cuba, went back to school to complete a degree in Education in Kingston, took a weekend trip to Las Vegas, celebrated Carnaval in Quebec, completed a teaching practicum in Lima, explored South Africa for a month, revisited Germany, hopped over to Luxembourg and just made it in time to Paris to celebrate our first 365 days together as husband and wife. Whew! I'm dizzy just rattling that off.
To celebrate our one year together we spent a slow day exploring some sites in Paris, eating bibimbap at a Korean restaurant, having a sushi picnic dinner in our hotel room and dancing at night along the Seine river. To be honest I don't think we could have planned a better day. I'm hoping our next year of marriage will include more travel and less studying ;)
Our 1 Year Anniversary in Paris Travel Video Transcript:
So hello from Paris! Today is actually our one year anniversary as Mr and Mrs. So we are here celebrating in the city and we thought we'd make a little vlog because why not document the celebration right? Exactly.
So it has kind of been a wild first year of marriage. We went back to Canada to go to school, to get a degree and now we're back traveling again. So I wonder what year two is going to bring for us.
So right now we're looking for a restaurant called Bbimbap because we thought what better way to celebrate than eating at a Korean restaurant since Sam and I met in Korea and we love Korean food. So I've got my little map, my app and it looks like we're close. And I'm so hungry so let's keep going.
Bop bop diddy bop. Bibimbap.
Alright, so our side dishes have arrived. We have some greens and some cucumbers and some peanuts. And here this is something I've never seen before. And it looks like a refreshing cucumber salad and it is floating in water with ice and sesame seeds. Yum!
Let's try that.
Yeah, very refreshing. Perfect on a hot summer day. Perfect. Exactly.
Your food is here. My absolute favorite Korean meal has arrived. Bibimbap. And it is special kind of Bibimbap. It is called Jae Yuk Bibimbap which is a spicy kind of pork with Gochujang. Red pepper paste so take a look at this I've actually gone through and stirred it completely. It looks amazing. Time for my first bite.
Amazing authentic delicious bibimbap found in Paris, France.
So hotel room picnic. It has been raining most of the afternoon and a lot of things have shutdown in the neighborhood just because there is a holiday coming up. So we didn't have a lot of dinner options. So Sam managed to find a place hat was open and selling sushi.
I had to walk ten blocks for this. Like seriously five grocery stores were closed. Yeah, so this is going to be our dinner. Just a hotel picnic and maybe a nice little dessert. So yeah, happy anniversary!
Fun dinner.
So how are you enjoying your sushi picnic. You know what, this actually turned out to be a bit of a blessing in disguise. This is a lot better of a meal than what we were going to get from the grocery store.
What would a meal in France be like without a little sweet treat dessert at the end?
The unveiling of the patisserie sweets we picked up.
Oh, I'm destroying it already. Wait, I need to open this gently. Gently and carefully. It looks like cake.
Let them eat cake. Let them eat cake she says.
Oh my gosh. Did you just ruin it?
Oh, so this looks like lemon meringue pie. Or lemon meringue tart. Let me try to pick it up.
I've kind of half destroyed it here.
Ooh la la.
Come to Audrey. I will eat you. Oh, that smells so good. I can't wait to eat that. So that is the first one. But there is more. Because I like sweets and I'm getting spoiled today. And Sam does too actually.
We're kind of pigs every single day though. That is the thing.
Da da da dah.
Macaron.
My macaron.
Raspberry macaron. Look at that. Oh, my goodness.
That thing is a work of art. That thing is huge.
Oh, I can't wait to eat that.
It is almost too cute to eat.
Almost.
So we're heading out for a bit of an evening adventure. Apparently there is dancing happening along the banks of the Seine. So we're going to see if we can find that.
So we're just wrapping things up. We've been watching some of the dancing and just enjoying walking along the banks of the Seine. And I think we're going to call it a day and head back to the hotel and we'll see you guys soon. Happy one year anniversary!
