PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan wants the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) to retract its comment denouncing a Terengganu Syariah court’s sentence to cane two women for lesbian activities.
Takiyuddin who is also Kota Baru MP said the Syariah court has the jurisdiction to punish Muslims found guilty under the Syariah law.
Last Sunday, the Terengganu Syariah High Court sentenced two women to six strokes of the cane and fined RM3,300 respectively after finding them guilty of having lesbian sex.
