PewDiePie is not very happy with Shane Dawson’s docuseries
And neither are a lot of his fans
It’s safe to say Shane Dawson knew what he was doing when he chose Jake Paul to be the subject of a brand-new docu-series. The YouTube star saw what happened after Tana Mongeau and Jeffree Star were the focal points, so Jake? One of the most controversial humans on the internet? Yeah, Shane had to have understood what he was getting himself into with that one.
But a lot of the backlash Shane’s been facing hasn’t had anything to do with Jake at all. Instead, people have been taking issue with the way he and therapist Kati Morton discussed sociopaths in his second video, “The Dark Side of Jake Paul.”
One of those people is PewDiePie. After the video was released, the YouTuber made a response video that voiced a lot of concerns people were feeling. He first pointed out just how vague the definition of a sociopath was in Shane’s video.

He also fact-checked Kati’s claim that 1 in every 25 people is a sociopath.

PewDiePie said that while he understood that Shane was trying to make things more interesting and draw people in, he thought he should have been a lot more responsible with the way he talked about mental health. He also called out Kati for using the words “icky” and “gross” in the video, which he thought was weird for a therapist to say when describing a mental disorder.
Overall, the YouTuber just thought it was a bad video. But he added that both Shane and Kati probably realize that now.
And Shane did realize. He apologized for being overdramatic with the editing and for making sociopaths and psychopaths seem synonymous. But nevertheless, he’s still continuing the series.
How do you guys feel about all this? Are you liking Shane’s series so far, or do you think he’s being irresponsible? Let us know down in the comments.
