I have battled with the idea of how Jeremy had the truck not "plowing" into the water - but rather floating the cab on top of the water. Now that I have completed the floatation device for the front cab - it is time for me to work on a "Bow", or rather a Large Skid Plate that will help add lift to the boat when under propulsion from the outboard Motor that I will be installing in the near future. If you missed the first episode where I speak about the concept of this project, and show some of the parts I am using, here is a link for you:
The Skid Plate I am using is an old full size Polaris RZR stock skid plate. Its light, thick and durable. I think it will be moldable, and easy to work with, if I can get the right design and shape. I have never done this before.. so I am hoping I come up with some thing that works. Im not going for a "speed boat here" just one that is amphibious, does not sink.. and is close to the "real thing".
The purpose of this build, is to replicate (to a certain degree), the Truck that Jeremy Clarkson created to cross a lake in ( and amphibious truck) that was fitted with an outrageously large outboard motor. I hope to do him proud, and the memory of one of the greatest shows on TV of all Time - Top Gear.
So, I am using my Long Wheel Base Toyota Land Cruiser LC70, and converting it to my version of a "Toybota"!
