Rihanna Officially Joins Cast of Bates Motel Season 5!

Riri has officially checked into the Bates Motel, but rather than lending her voice for singing, instead she’ll be doing quite the amount of screaming…
Leave it bad girl Riri to surprise ComicCon-goers over the weekend with a shocking bit of exciting news. Although she wasn’t physically in attendance during the San Diego convention, Rihanna gave the surprise of a lifetime during Friday’s Bates Motel panel, with a video revealing that she would not only be joining the cast for its fifth and final season, but that she’d also be taking on Marion Crane’s character, the legendary role originally played by Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 horror film "Psycho." Although it was previously announced that the final season would debut Marion Crane’s character, it wasn’t slated who would be cast for the role until Rihanna dropped the bomb on us all, and if you still aren’t sure which iconic scene I’ve been talking about throughout this entire video, maybe you might remember this:
Ah, yes, the bloody shower scene and gut-wrenching scream… I can’t picture anyone else better for this role. Bates Motel executive producers, Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin, also gushed about Rihanna’s new casting, saying QUOTE, “We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way. We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate.”
Many of the show’s alumns will also be returning for season 5, including Vera Farmiga, who will be returning as Norma Bates, Freddie Highmore as Norman Bates and Olivia Cooke, who is set to return as Emma. And for all you Bates fanatics, you probably recall that Season 4 left off right up to speed with where the events of Psycho took place, so this seems like the perfect time to introduce the badass that we know and love.
