New characters, dark pasts, and now the fate of our favorite couples being tested? Something tells me I’m gonna need a long vacation once this is over.
We’re just weeks away from the premiere of Riverdale season 2 (30 days, to be exact) but Riverdale’s showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has been revealing small spoilers of what lies ahead in the mysterious town since pretty much the day season one ended.
After hearing about new characters coming in and stirring things up and rumors that fan-favorite couple Betty and Jughead AKA Bughead’s relationship may be put through the ringer, Roberto went into further detail regarding the couple during a recent interview with TV Line, including Fred Andrews’ mysterious death.
He started off by hinting that the search for the man who shot Fred QUOTE, “leads into darker chapters of Riverdale’s history... and puts all of our characters on the defensive.” Roberto also hinted that it won’t be the only challenge the characters will be faced with, confirming that Bughead and Varchie (Veronica and Archie) will both be in relationship crisis. He said, “It’s almost like every force in the universe is out to pry Bughead apart. There are going to be problems coming in multiple different directions, besieging both of our couples.”
We also know that a new character named Toni Topaz, played by Vanessa Morgan, may have something to do with the drama, further straining the existing hardship of attending two different schools that Betty and Jughead are already struggling with. We’ll also get many more answers to the questions surrounding the return of Veronica’s dad Hiram Lodge from jail, including QUOTE, “Is he reformed? Is he still up to his dastardly deeds? Is he somehow connected to the Fred gunman?”
But as for the last spoiler we were given, it has also been confirmed there will be a holiday episode, however, Roberto ended his statement in true Riverdale fashion by adding that it’s “probably not the holiday you imagine.”
So we’ve only got four weeks left to gear up for whatever is to come on season two, and these spoilers just go to show that we should just learn to expect the unexpected from here on out… so right now, I want to know all your thoughts on the most recent spoilers, and share some of your predictions for what’s to come down here in the comments, and after that, click right over here to see what Cole Sprouse revealed about Jughead’s fate come season two.
