Girl Meets World star Rowan Blanchard is currently guest starring on ABC’s The Goldbergs, and although Girl Meets World has been officially canceled, the actress managed to sneak in an iconic reference from the original Boy Meets World into the episode.
Rowan plays Jackie on The Goldbergs, a Star Wars and Lord of the Rings lover who becomes Adam’s adorably nerdy new girlfriend. The most recent episode showed Jackie and Adam’s first kiss, which takes place against the lockers at school, and Boy Meets World fans were quick to realize that the kiss is almost identical to the one Corey and Topanga shared on Boy Meets World. In that episode, a young Topanga takes control of the situation, pushes Corey up against a the lockers, and plants a giant smooch on his lips.
It could just be a coincidence, but we really wanna believe that Rowan’s nearly identical first-kiss moves with Adam are a hat tip to that iconic lip lock…
Considering ABC and Disney Channel are both Disney networks, there’s just no way the producers didn’t know what they were doing, right?! And as cute as this is, it’s equally bittersweet, knowing that reruns and references to Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World are all we have left of the two beloved series.
