Sean Penn Disses Alejandro Iñarritu with Racist Comment - 2015 Oscars

Yeah that was Sean Penn just joking around with Alejandro G. Iñaritu like old pals on live television at the Oscars. Hey guys it’s your host Vivian Fabiola, welcome to Clevver’s Trophy Life coverage where we’re talking all the details about the most awkward moments this award show season. So as you may have witnessed, Sean Penn announced “Birdman” as best picture at the Academy Awards, and some people did not think his joke was funny. Many thought it was quote, “Racist and offensive”, while others said it was quote, “utterly disgusting.”
Asking who gave Iñaritu a greencard was simply just not appropriate according to many who took to twitter to express their discontent with Penn. Now Alejandro did joke throughout his wins and at one point said, “Oh my god they want me to talk because I’m the worse English speaking guy here.”
So while many people were offended, Iñaritu was asked backstage about the joke and he said quote, “I found it hilarious.”
The Mexican director assured that when he was directing Penn in 21 Grams, they made a lot of jokes and that’s the type of brutal friendship they have. So what do you guys think, do we justify the joke with the fact that the actor and director have known each other for more than 10 years? On a good note, Neil Patrick Harris did end his hosting of the Oscars by saying “Buenas noches”.
