Selena Gomez had fun in the sun in Sydney, Australia and when haters body-shamed her, she responded in the best way possible.
Here’s yet another reason why Selena Gomez will always be one of our faves.
Ever since Selena Gomez announced that she had a vital organ transplant this past summer, she has been keeping a relatively low profile. She hasn’t been attending as many public events and her posts on social media have even become more sporadic.
She’s been even more private considering her on-again off-again relationship with Justin Bieber and since news of their recent decision to take some time apart was revealed, she has spent even more time outside the public eye.
First Sel went back to her roots in Texas to hang out with friends and family for some well-deserved R&R and then she took her trip abroad. Selena headed out to Sydney, Australia and yesterday she was spotted hanging out on a yacht with some friends.
Not only did she look like she was having an amazing time with the group, but she looked equally amazing in her orange and black bikini. Photos of her on the yacht surfaced and unfortunately people were quick to criticize the singer’s appearance and commented on how she apparently looks different than before.
Sel proudly showed off her scars from surgery and honestly looks incredible, we don’t know what the haters are talking about. We’re guessing Selena saw the comments and she responded in her own unique way – by posting a sweet video on Instagram of her and her friends hanging out. The video gives us a glimpse into what It’s like to be friends with Sel in real life and her caption is giving us serious life right now.
Sel’s caption reads QUOTE “The beauty myth- an obsession with physical perfection that traps modern woman in an endless cycle of hopelessness, self consciousness, and self-hatred as she tries to fulfill society’s impossible definition of flawless beauty. I chose to take care of myself because I want to, not to prove anything to anyone. Wind in her sails.”
Uhm, how eloquent and beautiful is that?! We love how she was able to call out the body-shamers with class and encourage everyone to love themselves.
