Swifties may have been waiting for new Taylor Swift music for three years now, but they’ve been waiting for a Taylor Swift/Selena Gomez collaboration for almost 10 years – since 2008, to be exact. To be fair, Selena DID make an appearance in Taylor’s music video for “Bad Blood”, but we’ll just consider that a teaser of what’s to come, and it’s all thanks to Taylor’s record label CEO Scott Borchetta, that the nearly-decade-old rumor may finally be coming to life.
Scott tweeted a behind-the-scenes video on Sunday of the creation of two magazines that are being simultaneously released exclusively at Target with the album this Friday. But it wasn’t the video that had fans flipping their ish. In the tweet, Scott wrote, “This is so good…” and even tagged Big Machine, Taylor Swift, and SELENA. FREAKING. GOMEZ.
Might I add that no photo, appearance or mention of Selena is anywhere to be found in the 30-second video, so naturally, Swifties were quick to respond back asking why she was tagged, and if the musical gods above have finally answered their prayers. Many of the tweets feature GIFs of the two best friends with hopeful responses, like this one, saying, “OMG IT’S HAPPENING” and another that said, “dynamic duo is coming.”
Nothing is confirmed, of course, but a few other collabs to be rumored on Reputation are Ed Sheeran, and a starring role by the youngest collaborator on any Taylor album – Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold’s daughter James, who holds the rumored title to be the voice in the beginning of “Gorgeous”.
On that note, one fan had their own opinion, stating that 2017 is obviously the year of an Ed Sheeran collaboration, writing, “Don't think so, but Ed might be there. Imagine when you find out there are zero collabs on the album”.
Ok, so I will agree that a Taylor/Ed “Everything Has Changed” 2.0 collab is well overdue, and to many Swifties’ surprise, it appears as though the Reputation track list was just leaked this morning featuring a collab with both Ed Sheeran and Future called “End Game”, so we might be in good hands after all. Although a photo of what looks like the backside of Reputation was tweeted out, I’m still not getting my hopes up until Friday when all is said and done and everyone and their mothers have their hands on Reputation.
Until then, there’s one three more days until the album’s release, so I want to know if you guys think Scott’s tag just revealed what fans really think it revealed, or if you have a different opinion, I want to hear it all, so get to talking down here in the comments, and after that, click right here to get all the details on Taylor’s album leak in the UK.
