'Shadowhunters' Cast PRAISES Fans During 2018 Teen Choice Awards Speech

The cast of Riverdale might have taken home like 10 surfboards tonight, but Shadowhunters celebrated as well, winning choice Sci-Fi TV show at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards!
Pretty good for a show that’s been cancelled. Can this reverse the fate of Shadowhunters?
If you missed the 2018 Teen Choice Awards which went down this Sunday in LA, no worries at all. That’s what YouTube is for. Allow me to catch you up on one of your favorite shows. Freeform’s ‘Shadowhunters’ was nominated in the Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV ShowCategory. You know, the category where they lump in everything that isn’t a drama or comedy. But this category had some gems! The other contenders were iZombie, The Originals, The 100, Supernatural, and Stranger Things. How… do you choose?! You pick the show that you want to save, since producers cancelled Shadowhunters earlier this summer. What made this moment even cuter were the two fans from home who actually got to announce them as the winners.
Those two girls on the giant screen at home lost their sh… minds, they were so excited. The whole cast went on stage to accept the honor, led by Matthew Daddario who BTW also won Choice Sci-fi TV Actor. You could feel the love and unity within the cast. As Matt was talking on stage he kept looking back at Harry and they both kept giving each other this smile. Their love and friendship is REAL.
Immediately, the hashtag #SaveShadowhunters went viral AGAIN, with fans everywhere pouring their hearts into the Twitterverse, begging for this show to be saved from its fate now that they had proved their dedication to the series getting it this TCA win. After it was announced that the upcoming third season would be its final… fans have worked tirelessly to save it. From launching a campaign that's included flying a #SaveShadowhunters banner over Netflix headquarters, to renting a billboard in Times Square, to perhaps most impressively, raising over $20,000 for The Trevor Project in the name of the show's diverse casting and representation. If that’s not the embodiment of teen power and the TEEN CHOICE awards… I don’t know what is. Congrats to everyone who’s worked on this show and to the FANS for making this possible.
