Poor Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello just survived the most awkward interview yet. Courtesy of a very pushy James Corden.
I get it- we all want to know if those two are more than friends but if we keep pushing this hard we’re gonna make them hate each other!
‘I know what you did last summer’ is the title to Camilla and Shawn’s new single. It’s a catchy song that no one can get enough of, including the people over at the Late Late Show with James Corden. The host invited the pair over to perform their song. Which they did and it rocked. Then James read them fan questions. Of course “Are you two dating’ was one of them. Both Shawn and Camila kept saying, “we’re REALLY not dating” with the straightest and most flustered of faces and James refused to believe them.
Poor Shawn, trying to escape James’ pushiness on the subject half-jokingly replied, “Every time I’ve tried to make a move [Camila’s] like nah-“ to which Camila threw him under the bus and said ‘You’ve never made a move on me!... He friend-zoned me. He calls me ‘kid.’” Shawn was literally on the precipice of a panic attack. Camilla kept trying to de-escalate the sitch. And James kept bullying them into giving a different answer.
Did you guys see his face? “Well, I don’t care” and his face said it all. Look, maybe they’ve made out and they want to keep it private.
Or maybe, they really are just friends! Either way, my heart goes out to those two and I wish them easy, polite interviews in for the remainder of their careers. Highly unlikely though.
