Shawn Mendes & Niall Horan Recall "Flirting" With Each Other & Reveal FIRST Time They Met

At BBC Music’s Biggest Weekend on Sunday, Niall and Shawn paired up for a joint interview Q&A. Through spouts of laughter they explained how they first met which was apparently at the American Music Awards. Shawn said that after some flirtsy messages back and forth, they hit it off at the award show and right after they went to Niall’s place to watch a movie. Real adorable start of a friendship right there.
Finally the topic of the two making music together came up to which Niall said QUOTE, "People are always, like, trying to get us to do a song together.” Um, yeah because that song would instantly be a hit and you guys are friends so why hasn’t this happened yet?! Anyway he continued with some sad news…
And those last words were all we needed to keep hope alive. They might one day y’all!
After that they chatted about their first impressions of each other. Niall said that his first thought was Shawn’s height. I mean he IS 6’2”. He also said he had a QUOTE, “essence of innocence” and was QUOTE, “extremely Canadian and just a very, very sweet guy who can sing like an angel as we all know.”
Shawn on the other hand said he was always a nervous wreck any time he would see Niall. He’s complimentary of the fact that Niall helped calm him down in those situations.
Other fun answers we got were Niall’s favourite Shawn Mendes song which is Holding Me Back. Apparently Shawn played a demo of the song for Niall in the car and by the second verse he was already singing along.
And then Shawn talked about a performance Niall did of his song This Town with just an electric guitar. He said QUOTE, “It was what I wanted to do on stage. It just completely captivated the audience, but with one guitar and a beautiful song. I’m obsessed with that song.” And then Niall reached over and grabbed his arm and they looked into each others eyes and it’s just such a cute moment I watched it four times.
And who would join them in a dream collab? While Niall said Alicia Keys and John Mayer, Shawn kept my heart a flutter answering QUOTE, “Shawn Mendes, Niall Horan, Alicia Keys, John Mayer.”
And they finished the interview off with Shawn teasing Niall over his obsession with golf. Honestly, watch the whole interview because it’s adorable. That’s the only word I can use to describe their friendship!
