The government can only invoke an extradition treaty with Australia to repatriate Sirul Azhar Umar if his death sentence is commuted to imprisonment, said Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Addressing a press conference this morning at the Parliament lobby, Saifuddin said there is a small window of opportunity to bring back the former police commando following Malaysia's abolishment of the mandatory death penalty.
