Taylor Swift Is One Of THR's Rulebreakers In 2014

The Hollywood Reporter calls Taylor Swift a rule breaker and it’s for all the right reasons. Taylor is featured on the cover of the Rule Breakers issue in which the Hollywood Reporter pays homage to those who have taken risks in the industry this year despite opposition from their naysayers and succeeded.
Taylor talks about the many risks she’s taken this year including pretty much all things circulating her album 1989. Taylor tells the Hollywood reporter that many people who have worked with her for a long time were skeptical at first about her making the jump from a country artist to a pop star due to the fact that she had cemented her credibility so firmly in the country genre. Those same people questioned whether or not 1989 was the best title for the album and if Taylor was sure she wanted to go with an album cover that only showed half of her face.
Yeah they were concerned about a lot but as album sales have clearly shown, Taylor absolutely made all the right decisions in breaking the rules.
Taylor also talks about her decision to leave Spotify and how shocked she was that so many people had something to say about it. Taylor said QUOTE – “I didn't think that it would be shocking to anyone. With as many ways as artists are personalizing their musical distribution, it didn't occur to me that this would be anything that anyone would talk about. But I could never have expected so many text messages, emails and phone calls from other artists, writers and producers saying thank you.”
Other rebels on The Hollywood Reporter’s Rule Breaker’s list include Angelina Jolie for painting Maleficent in a whole new light, Chris Pratt with Guardian’s of the Galaxy Director James Gunn for taking a chance on making a movie with a talking tree, and ABC Entertainment Group president Paul Lee whose network launched a hit drama with “How To Get Away With Murder” and a hit comedy “Blackish” both with black lead actors.
