One of the best parts about getting a new Taylor Swift album is dissecting all the lyrics and what or WHO they could be about, but she’s giving us all a big hint for at least ONE of the album’s songs. Because it’s obviously that Taylor loves putting some mystery out there just as much as we love dissecting it.
T-Swift stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday and discussed all those mysterious Instagram teases she’s been sharing over the last week or so, and broke down these particular lyrics.
“One night, he wakes, strange look on his face, pauses, then says ‘You’re my best friend.’ And you knew what it was. He is in Love.”
While some people might run with that and assume it’s about Harry Styles – not so fast! Taylor is explaining the meaning behind the track, titled “I Wish You Would”:
Awwww. We’re getting all warm and fuzzy just thinking about that. In the interview Taylor continued to praise their relationship and say that you’re supposed to be friends AND be in love. Again, awwww.
Other highlights from the interview include a fun tidbit about how Taylor tried to get on Kimmel’s show when she was 14, but was sent away by his music booker. And PLOT TWIST! All these years later Jimmy kicked HIM out because he OBVIOUSLY made a huge mistake. Yes, this definitely made me LOL.
OK, so let’s shift gears back to Taylor Swift and relationships a little bit. Though Taylor has said in some interviews that she’s SWORN off dating, she is now clarifying those statements with E! News, saying:
"It's not that [I've sworn off dating] as much as I'm just very protective of my happiness. I found a place in my life that feels really great and I'm not willing to compromise that for just anyone, and so, you can paraphrase that all you want into something very extreme, but they make what I say extreme no matter what I say."
Um, can I get an AMEN! Thank you thank you thank you, Taylor Swift. How beautifully put was that?
