Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, and more celebs SPEAK OUT on gun violence during March for Our Lives.
Some of our favorite celebs are stepping up to support this incredibly important movement.
Millions of people participated in March for Our Lives earlier today, whether it was joining the many protest marches around the country, or sharing support and solidarity on social media. Many celebs have been outspoken about gun violence since the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School earlier this year--not to mention long before that--and today’s protest was no exception.
Taylor Swift took to instagram to share a heartfelt message of support for the movement, sharing a “March for Our Lives” poster on her page with the caption QUOTE, “No one should have to go to school in fear of gun violence. Or to a nightclub. Or to a concert. Or to a movie theatre. Or to their place of worship. I’ve made a donation to show my support for the students, for the March For Our Lives campaign, for everyone affected by these tragedies, and to support gun reform. I’m so moved by the Parkland High School students, faculty, by all families and friends of victims who have spoken out, trying to prevent this from happening again.”
Many were surprised by Taylor’s comments, given the fact that she has chosen to stay out of politically-driven controversies before.
Taylor’s BFF Selena Gomez also supported March for Our lives, sharing the same poster image on her Instagram page, and simply captioning it QUOTE, “Protect kids, not guns!" #MarchForOurLives.”
Camila Cabello also shared the “March for Our Lives” poster on Instagram yesterday, writing QUOTE, “tomorrow is #marchforourlives and it is SO important that we all join in and fight for change. no one should fear for their lives so we need to make sure that these tragic events never. happen. again.”
Demi Lovato echoed that sentiment on her Instagram, writing QUOTE, “Today is the day, let your voices be heard.”
Comedian Amy Schumer, who spoke out against gun violence after a gunman opened fire in a screening of her film “Trainwreck” and killed two female moviegoers, posted photos of the victims of that incident and wrote in part QUOTE, “Today I March for the students of Parkland and everywhere...We need to digitize gun-sales records, mandate universal background checks, close gun-show loopholes and straw-man purchases, ban high-capacity magazines, and push for a comprehensive assault weapons ban with an extensive buyback system.”
Miley Cyrus participated in the “March For Our Lives”, and shared a picture of herself with some of her family members along with the caption QUOTE, “Surrounded by heroines! Lucky to be here at this moment in history with the ones I love!”.
Dwayne the Rock Johnson also shared a post from the March, writing QUOTE, “I’ll always stand for open dialogue and action - it’s the only way to ensure bad history doesn’t repeat itself. When it comes to protecting our children, all bets are off and the responsibility lies with us adults and lawmakers to listen and do. Very strong day.”
It is so great to see all these celebrities standing against violence and using their platforms to push for gun control laws, and we are so grateful to everyone who participated in the Marches today.
