The Vampire Diaries FINALLY Reveals How Elena Wakes Up In New Series Finale Teaser Clip

As you know The Vampire Diaries TV show is officially coming to a close this Friday, March 10th. In preparation, the show has been gifting us tiny teaser morsels to hold us over. And the latest teaser clip finally makes sense of Elena Gilbert’s shocking revival.
As you saw, Stefan confirms to Damon that Bonnie’s heart stopped for JUST a second, and that seemed to be long enough for Elena to burst back to life. Since Elena’s life is linked to Bonnie’s no one thought they could both be alive at the same time. Leave it to those tricky TVD writers to come up with the perfect solution for the series ending.
But Elena wasn’t always going to be included in the finale, show creator Julie Plec has revealed. Julie told TVLine, “At one point in the middle of the season, I thought, ‘Should we just shock the audience and kill Elena in the middle of the season? Burn her body, and she’s just gone, so we’re not misleading fans all season with the promise that she’ll return?’” Thankfully one of Julie’s writers confirmed that was the worst ideas she has ever had.
