Tsukiji market is synonymous with seafood BUT if you’re not a seafood lover it’s still well worth a visit! There are loads of non-seafood options to snack on- here are our favourites including a secret curry restaurant which is well worth a visit!

This 6 part Japan series focuses on Japanese street food- we’ll share our favourite Japanese street foods in Tokyo and some of the best spots to find them.

NB: Most restaurants and stalls are closed on Wednesday and Sunday. To make the most of your time at the market we recommend visiting in the morning into the early afternoon.

What we ate and where we ate it:

Tamagoyaki sando 550 yen/$4.20USD at Shourou Honten, 4 Chome-13-13 Tsukiji, Chuo City, Tokyo 104-0045, Japan. Open daily 6am to 3pm (Wednesday and Sunday open at 7am)

Menshi katsu (beef cutlet) 150 yen/$1.20USD at Yoshizawa, 4 Chome-13-15 Tsukiji, Chuo City, Tokyo 104-0045, Japan. Open daily 7am to 2pm. Closed Wednesday and Sunday.

Pork curry, tuna curry and 1 x beer 3050 yen/$23USD at East India Curry Company, Japan, 〒104-0045 Tokyo, Chuo City, Tsukiji, 4 Chome−10−7 夕月 ２階 ビル. Level 2 of Tsukiji Outer Market. Open daily 10am to 3pm (weekends they open at 8am)

Taiyaki (fish shaped filled pastry) 240 yen/$1.80USD at Tsukiji Sanokiya, 4 Chome-11-9 Tsukiji, Chuo City, Tokyo 104-0045, Japan. Open 8am to 3pm except Wednesday 8am to 1pm. Closed Sunday.
