Zendaya Addresses Mary Jane Rumors & Will Tom Holland Dance in 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'?

So, is Zendaya Mary Jane, or isn’t she? That is the question on everyone’s mind and I think we’re getting one step closer to finding out.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Zendaya opened up about all of the rumors swirling around her role in the Spider-Man: Homecoming movie. While no one has actually confirmed if the actress will be playing the role of Mary Jane just yet, Zendaya revealed just what she thought when people reacted kinda negatively to her possibly playing an African-American Mary Jane.
Z gave a lengthy answer to the controversy surrounding her possible role by saying QUOTE, “People are going to react over anything. But nothing [about who she is playing] is fact. It’s like, you guys are just making shit up at this point and then reacting to it. Whenever we were on set, one of us gets some random character name [on the call sheet]. [Bloggers were] like, ‘Oh, they must be so and so.’ And we just crack up about it because it’s like, ‘Whatever you want to think. You’ll find out.’ It’s funny to watch the guessing game. But of course there’s going to be outrage over that because for some reason some people just aren’t ready. I’m like, ‘I don’t know what kind of America you live in, but from what I see when I walk outside my streets of New York right now, I see lots of diversity and I see the real world and it’s beautiful, and that’s what should be reflected and that’s what is reflected so you’re just going to have to get over it.”
The actress didn’t necessarily confirm or deny that she’s Mary Jane in the film, but she did open up about her character, Michelle – who people believe is the code name for MJ – and gave us all a little glimpse as to who Michelle is.
We just cannot wait to meet her on the big screen. The same can also be said for Zendaya’s co-star, Tom Holland. The actor opened up to THR about his audition process, which, by the way, he taped himself doing a bunch of backflips while telling the casting directors a little bit about himself, and he also revealed that we’re all going to see him as Spider-Man for quite a bit.
Tom dished on his contract as the web slinger and said QUOTE, “They give you options, and those could be excercised whenever. Like a cameo in Avengers. I’m unclear as to which movies, though. I do know I have three Spider-Man movies and three solo movies contracted.”
The actor is obviously under contract to not give away any spoilers from the film, but he did open up about a particular dance scene he does in the movie as Peter Parker. Tom said that QUOTE, ‘there is a moment where he dances, and it’s so funny. It’s not good dancing. The internet has perceived me as this fantastic dancer. I can still do a couple of pirouettes, but I am by no means a proper dancer.’
Well, that’s not what Zendaya said when she talked about your dance moves, Tom.
