13 Reasons Why's Dylan Minnette Says Season 2 Will Be About "Recovery"

Dylan Minnette reveals some new 13 Reasons Why details--get the scoop on the second season’s very different theme, the time it’ll take place, and more!
Dylan is finally giving us some hints as to what we can really expect from season 2 of 13 Reasons, and it’s already sounding binge-worthy.
In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dylan revealed that the events of the new season will take place a few months after where season 1 left off. And while season 1 detailed the events leading up to Hannah Baker’s suicide, it sounds like season 2 is going to focus on the aftermath of her death.
Dylan explained QUOTE, "This season particularly is a lot about recovery...It's naturally going to progressively get to a more emotional place, due to the nature of the story we're telling. I'm sure we're all heading in some dark directions again. I think anybody would be surprised if we weren't."
Dylan has previously said that the cast and crew have all listened to the criticism and concerns surrounding the dark content of the show, and that while those opinions were heard, it won’t necessarily affect the story. That being said, for those who wanted the show to delve deeper into the effects Hannah’s suicide had on her family, friends, and peers, or the effects that Jessica’s sexual assault had on her, it sounds like that’s exactly what season 2 will aim to tackle--especially if “recovery” is going to be such a huge theme this time around.
Dylan’s co-star Katherine Langford echoed his statements on the second season’s premise, telling Entertainment Tonight that it QUOTE, “feels like a very different show”.
Only time will tell just how “different” this season is going to be from the first, but I’ll be binge-watching either way.
