2017 Oscars Screws Up Best Picture Winner - La La Land Moonlight

If Warren Beatty looked ultra confused, it was because he was! The wrong winner for best picture at the Academy Awards was announced, and the beauty of live TV unfolded before our eyes
I hope you’re sitting down!! In a shocking surprise La La Land was announced the winner for Best Picture BUT there was an error and they didn’t actually win!
So let’s break this down, Warren Beatty & Faye Dunnaway took the stage to announce the winner for Best Picture at The Oscars, and while reading off the winner Beatty hesitated for several LONG moments before attempting to read the winner but THEN Dunnaway eventually got frustrated and announced that La La Land had won. So, the entire cast took the stage to accept the award, celebrate, say their “thank yous” and jusssst before they were about to leave the stage something CRAZY happened.
Wow! I was wondering why Emma Stone was in total freak-out mode, saying “Oh My God” during their speech (editor note: 8:24)
So Moonlight actually won Best Picture and there was nothing better than seeing everyone’s shocked faces as they realized that there had been an error. Poor Warren Beatty felt so terrible that he had to come back out to explain himself.
Barry Jenkins, the director of Moonlight, was not only shocked that his dreams had come true but also SO gracious in accepting this award:
