This was one of the most surprising Oscars ceremonies we’ve ever seen thanks to the mega wins and shocking snubs at this year’s ceremony.
While all of the categories were riddled with incredible talent this year, at the end of the day only a few select actors and actresses went home with a coveted Oscar statue. The Best actor trophy went to Casey Affleck for Manchester By the Sea, beating out Denzel Washington, Andrew Garfield, Viggo Mortensen, and Ryan Gosling. Meanwhile best supporting actor went to Mahershala Ali, who joked about his grandmother and appeared to be utterly speechless at his win.
As for the ladies, Viola Davis gave a heartwarming speech for her best supporting actress win, where she spoke about why she became an artist in the first place...
Best actress unsurprisingly went to Emma Stone for her work in La La Land, and though her win was not by any means shocking, she gave a humbled and graceful speech thanking everyone who helped her along the way to her momentous win...
Best director went to Damien Chazelle for La La Land, but despite the film also being the favorite to win Best Picture at the awards ceremony, things took a dramatic turn when it was revealed that despite La La Land initially being read as the winner of the coveted award, it turned out that the wrong card was given to presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, and the true winner of Best Picture of the Year went to Moonlight...
