The 2017 BET awards brought with it yet another year of collected accolades so we’re bringing you a list of the big winners.
Congratulations are in order for a select few.
The 2017 BET awards brought yet another year of celebration, show stopping performances, and talent recognition. Another year of well deserved awards were handed out tonight leaving several artists going home with new accolades to put on their mantels.
Bruno Mars had quite the night. Not only did he open the show, he also won Best Male R &B / Pop Artist which marked his first BET award. 24 Karat magic also tied with Beyonce’s “Sorry” for Video of the Year. Speaking of Yonce, the queen certainly reigned supreme tonight despite being unable to attend. She won Best Female R & B / Pop Artist, tied with Bruno for Video of the Year, dominated with Lemonade for Album of the Year, and took home the Viewer’s Choice Award as well as the Coca-Cola Viewer’s Choice Award for “Sorry.”
Best Group went to Migos, the Youngstars award went to Yara Shahidi, Best Collaboration was a tie between Chance the Rapper 2 Chains & Lil Wayne for “No Problem,” along with Migos for “Bad and Boujee.” The Centric Award went to Solange for “Cranes in the Sky” while Chance the Rapper took home Best New Artist. Chance was also given the Humanitarian Award while New Edition was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Kendrick Lamar won Best Male Hip-Hop Artist but it was the Female category that stirred some controversy. Best Female Hip-Hop Artist has been awarded to Nicki Minaj literally every year until now when it not only went to another artist, but of all artists it went to Nicki’s rival, Remy Ma.
