It was only in our wildest Super Bowl halftime dreams to see Adele take the field next year, but ‘never mind, Adele… the NFL will just have to find someone like you!’
So Adele won’t be taking after her idol Beyoncé in one of the year’s most anticipated performances, and there will be no left shark collaboration, but that doesn’t mean we don’t love Adele any less than we already did. During the singer’s 8-sold-out-concert run in Los Angeles over the weekend, she took some time to clear up rumors and set the facts straight.
Adele started out by clearing up ridiculous pregnancy rumors, confirming that NO she is not having a baby, but YES, she is having a cheese baby, further proving that we are Adele and Adele is all of us.
And we all know that with a hidden pregnancy, comes the big reveal which many fans thought to be during a certain performance come the new year, but Adele was also quick to squash our biggest hope for the beginning of a perfect 2017, by saying that she turned down Pepsi and the NFL’s offer to perform in the Super Bowl Halftime show, and here’s why:
So if you weren’t able to hear that clearly, Adele revealed that the main reason why she would not be performing is because of her dancing skills… or lack of, for that matter. She said QUOTE, “I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no. I’m sorry. Maybe next time, for my next album, because I’m going to do a dance album next time. So maybe I’ll do it then.”
However, just yesterday following Adele’s statement, the NFL and Pepsi released a statement of their own denying even sending Adele a formal invite, writing, “The NFL and Pepsi are big fans of Adele. We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else. We are focused on putting together a fantastic show for Houston and we look forward to revealing that in good time.”
So either there was a massive amount of miscommunication going on between the two parties, orrrr the NFL is just not handling the rejection all that well… either way, I want to hear all your thoughts on this, so let me know what you think about Adele and the NFL’s statements right down here in the comments section.
