Britney Spears’ second Super Bowl Halftime performance may just have to wait until another year, so forget the surprise *NSYNC and Aerosmith appearances because Pepsi has officially denied the rumors that Brit will be performing on the biggest sporting event of the year.
The New York Daily News even went as far to report that an insider argued that Britney has the hits package and appeal to be a headliner, but following talks that Brit had “secret discussions” about headlining the show set in Minneapolis next year, Pepsi’s head of sports marketing, Justin Toman, delivered the bad news yesterday during a panel at Venues Now Conference in Beverly Hills.
While he managed to keep the names of potential performers under wraps, he was sure to add that it’s QUOTE “not Britney.” While the NFL is known to be very secretive about the process of seeking out talent, Toman did reveal a little bit about the process, saying QUOTE, “It’s us, the artist and the NFL, and at the end, everybody has to align.” He also noted that the NFL “contracts the performance” and that “no money is exchanged,” and as a major brand, ‘finding the mutual shared win’ is the goal.”
But we were not QUITE left hanging as it was also revealed that the announcement will be made “in due time”, so seeing that Lady Gaga made her grand half time show announcement back in September, we’ve only got about two months until we find out.
So hey, we may not be able to live out our inner-‘90s dreams, but if you must see Britney, there’s always Vegas? But right now, I want to know who YOU guys think will be the Super Bowl Halftime Show performer next year, so get those predictions in down here in the comments, and after that, click right over here to check out a brand new Beauty Trippin where we literally WIG out in New Orleans, and trust me, things get weird… as if they don’t always.
