I guess it only takes 13 years for TV execs to forget about the infamous Nipplegate.
But I’ll never forget. It was glorious. The 10-time Grammy winner who’s currently working on his fifth studio album has reportedly been asked to come back to the stage that birthed the term “nipplegate” over a decade ago- this time SOLO, aka no Janet, aka no Nsync cameo- and bring his rhythm and blues to the NFL championship in Minneapolis on February 4th. Though all the insiders are reporting that JT would be performing solo, one source close to him insinuated that if there is a collab onstage, it’ll be with Bey’s hubby, Jay-Z. Yes, please! The NFL has not confirmed nor denied reports but neither has Kylie on her pregnancy. That doesn’t mean it’s not real. This is all a very big deal, because in 2004 this happened…
Better have you naked by the end of this song. He was only keeping his word. Janet’s breast was only on tv for 9/16th of a second, but the ramifications were global. This was the reason why now there’s always a 5 second delay in live television performances. But as we’re seeing here, history absolved good boy JT from his role in this ridiculous controversy. Janet was never invited back to the Bowl. And Justin is about to get hella paid for a round two. I want more boob. But that’s just me. There’s also a lot of mixed feelings about the NFL right now with the take a knee movement about calling out racism and all other offenses that are trying to erode the very principles our country stands for. Some people hate it, a lot of people don’t understand it, and a LOT of people support it- including Justin who’s own performance at the Pilgrimage Music Festival recently including politically charged references and him yelling into the mic “love trumps hate.” So Timberlake signing on to play at the Bowl- post nipplelitis and in the midst of taking a knee controversies is such a big deal my brain can barely comprehend it.
