It sounded like everything was going well between Blac Chyna and the Kardashians since little Dream was born, but then the lawyers were brought in...
It all started when Blac Chyna filed to trademark the name Angela Renee Kardashian earlier this year, which will be her legal name once she marries Rob Kardashian. Although her wedding to Rob won’t take place until next year, it sounds like everything has been going well for the couple, especially since giving birth to their baby girl, Dream Kardashian, last month. So it came as a total shock to Chyna when the Kardashian sisters’ lawyers tried to block her trademarking her own future Kardashian name.
And it’s not just Chyna who’s in shock over the sisters’ lawsuit--her lawyer is also convinced the whole thing HAS to be a big misunderstanding. He told People Magazine QUOTE, “Everything has been fantastic between her and the family to the best of my knowledge, so this is a shock. Thus, I'm under the belief that it's a misunderstanding. I don't know how this plays out any other way.”
The suit filed by the Kardashian sisters’ lawyers reportedly argue that Chyna is QUOTE, "deliberately seeking to profit from the goodwill and popularity of the Kardashian name". Um, ouch! That doesn’t exactly sound like a simple misunderstanding, does it?!
But another source close to Blac Chyna, aka Angela, explained that the Kardashians’ lawsuit could just be standard procedure, telling People mag QUOTE, "The Kardashians own their trademarks in most categories worldwide, and the trademark attorneys' standard practice is to oppose anyone who tries to file anything. They probably didn't even know it was happening.” The source went on to explain, “She's not trying to do anything negative. She wants to trademark the name because it will be her name when she gets married and she wants to protect it. It's also her daughter's last name and she wants to share a last name with her daughter.”
"But according to a source to US Weekly, the suit is neither a misunderstanding nor standard practice--it's just pure business. The source explained QUOTE, “Chyna filing and using their last name takes some time and discussion...They are hoping to resolve it amicably, the girls, because they do love Chyna. The girls are just protecting their interests because that is their brand. It’s a complicated business issue.” Hopefully they can resolve things amicably, and soon, because if they don't that's gonna be one awkward Christmas dinner...
