And speaking of Paper Towns, Cara Delevinge who stars in that film is going on the record and calling out super hero movies for being TOTALLY SEXIST.
The model-turned-actress, who is also starring in the highly anticipated film, Suicide Squad, recently spoke out via the Hollywood Reporter to say “There are only three girls in Suicide Squad but in my opinion they have the best roles. Generally though, superhero movies are totally sexist.” Cara then went on to explain here reasoning, saying “Female superheroes are normally naked or in bikinis. No one would be able to fight like that. Wonder Woman, how the hell does she fight? She would be dead in a minute.” Well, I gotta say, when it put it that way, Cara is really on to something. And when you really think about about it, there aren’t nearly as many female superheroes as there are male superheroes (although that is starting to change), but as far as the costuming goes, it does make sense that one would likely be able to kick butt more successfully if she OR he didn’t have to worry about their clothes falling off. Just throwing that out here – it’s simply logistical. So friends, what do you guys think? Are super hero movies sexist? And if you think so, what would you like to see change in the future?
