This horrific news headline is now all-too-familiar and it needs to stop.
At least 26 people are dead after a gunman walked into the First Baptist Church Of Sutherland Springs Texas on Sunday morning and started firing. This deadly shooting comes just 35 days after the massacre at a music festival in Las Vegas that left 58 dead. Lady Gaga wrote on Twitter, “Prayers for #SanAntonio and all the families who are suffering the loss of loved ones. I’ll pray also for #GunControl”. Britney Spears shared her sadness on Twitter saying, “My heart breaks over the news coming out of Texas. My prayers are with the Sutherland Springs community”. President Donald Trump sent words from his trip overseas tweeting, “May God be w/ the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas. The FBI & law enforcement are on the scene. I am monitoring the situation from Japan.” Meanwhile comedian Chelsea Handler blamed the President’s political party for the violence writing, “Innocent people go to church on Sunday to honor their God, and while doing so, get shot in killed. What country? America. Why? Republicans.”
