Ed Sheeran Announces Nearly 2 Year Break From Music!

Ed Sheeran just gave an emotional “goodbye for now” because he just announced an 18 month break from music. I guess I’ll have to be listening to all his hits on repeat for the next year and a half.
What’s up? It’s Emile Ennis Jr. here with Clevver News and after more than two years on the road, Ed Sheeran just announced that he will be taking some much needed time off.
On the final stop of his Divide tour earlier this week, he spoke to The Sun about his time on this world tour, which has been going on since March of 2017.
He said quote, “I was told before I came on that now at the end of this tour I’ve played to 9 million people around the world. It is the biggest tour ever. It’s been an emotional day for a lot of people backstage.”
Which is crazy, he’s gotten to perform for so many people, but we all know touring is physically and emotionally exhausting.
He continued on to say quote, “There is something very bittersweet about ending the tour, I love that you guys are here and we are ending it in Ipswich. This is my last gig for probably 18 months.”
And before his final bow of his final show, he showed his appreciation for everyone who helped make Divide such a success.
He said quote, "Thank you to everyone who has given me a chance. This is my last song. I wrote this when I was 15 years old. See you in a few years time. Thank you."
And I don’t know why this is making me so emotional.
Maybe it’s because Ed truly deserves some time off to spend with his new wife, Cherry Seaburn.
Earlier this summer, he confirmed their marriage and opened up about how she constantly supports this hectic life.
He told iHeartRadio that quote, “I tour a lot. I spend a lot of time on the road. [...] I constantly wake up every day with Cherry and I'm just like, 'Why the f--k are you with me? You could literally be with whoever you wanted, and you've chosen me.”
So I think 18 months will be some quality time for them to spend together.
And for anyone who thinks Ed is quitting music all together, well you need to calm down. Because he took to his Instagram story to clear up any rumors.
He wrote quote, “I’m not bloody retiring either, press are being over dramatic. I’m having 18 months off to make another album and hang out with my cats.”
