And just like the trailer says, over time some things may change, but thankfully for us… other things just don’t.
We haven’t seen the last of Stars Hollow, and we’re not about to any time soon. Already racking up over 16 million views, in not even a day after its release, the first teaser for the Gilmore Girls revival – A Year in The Life, has officially dropped and really, NOTHING has changed.
In the one-and-a-half minute teaser, that we’ve also learned will NOT be part of the 4-part series, Lorelei and Rory, per their usual mother-daughter element, begin bickering about whether or not Lorelei and Amy Schumer would be BFF potential, you know, like we all do from time to time. Take a look:
Vulture Online tweeted about the trailer, noting that Amy Schumer was a hot topic in their discussion, but contrary to Rory’s belief, luckily Amy Schumer DID catch word of the clip and tweeted back, insisting that she and Lorelei would in fact get along. She said, “@vulture I would love her!” And in true Amy fashion, she included another tweet that read QUOTE, “I've only done 2 water sports and they took pictures of it both times. I promise I usually just lay there (sex too).” Good to know!
Soooo does this mean an Amy Schumer guest appearance of some sort? I’m TOTES holdin’ out for that to happen, but while I wait for that, I will share with you tons of tidbits from the Gilmore Girls press tour that went down just yesterday. Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel and Scott Patterson, who plays Luke, joined the show’s creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and the show’s exec producer Daniel Palladino, where they talked about unveiling even more answers than ever expected, like for one, we may FINALLY have answers to Rory’s love life people!! According to Alexis, all of Rory’s former loves will make an appearance, and all questions will be answered.
And although we did mention that not all things change, because of Warner Brothers’ frequently changed sets throughout the years, some of the storefront buildings will not look the same. The cast also revealed that this revival is also about a changing connection between the mother and daughter duo. Lauren Graham revealed QUOTE, “It’s not a story about a little girl anymore who’s in high school — it’s a story of a young woman and all the struggles she faces, and the dynamics between these two women. They’ve grown up, but they’re the same.”
We may also get some answers to whether or not Luke and Lorelei are together, and on a heavier note, the passing of Edward Hermann in 2014, who played Richard Gilmore, WILL also have an effect on the storyline.
But as for another year in the life, producers didn’t seem ready to talk about a sequel, giving the audience the simple answer of “This is what it is”. But right now we can look forward to the show’s release in its entirety on Friday, Nov. 25 at 12:01 am (aka Black Friday), so if shopping is not on your radar, you have an even better option. You already know my excitement, so now I want to hear all your thoughts on the teaser and what you’re most excited about seeing right down here in the comments section.
