It’s been roughly seven years since Kanye interrupted Taylor Swift at the VMAs and the rapper is still trying to defend his actions on that life-changing night.
The 2009 VMAs was life changing for both Kanye and Taylor. For the singer, that night pretty much took her fame to a whole ‘nother level, but for Kanye, things changed drastically, and not in a good way. The rapper opened up about the night of September 13, 2009 after performing ‘Famous’ for the very first time at his first concert since he released ‘The Life of Pablo’ and this is what he had to say about that infamous moment.
Yeezy went on to defend his actions to the crowd and the world by saying that he was simply speaking the truth that night and was just saying what was on everyone else’s mind at the time. Kanye then said QUOTE, “If I get in trouble for saying the truth, what’s being said the rest of the time? And I had to fight every day of my life, with the whole world turned against me, for saying out loud what everyone else felt. But that’s the job of an artist, of a true artist: not to be controlled by their finances, not to be controlled by perceptions, but only to be controlled by their truth.”
After his rant, ‘Ye performed ‘Famous’ for the crowd for a second time and from the sounds of it, the people in attendance loved every single moment of it.
