Make some room Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran because Katy Perry is the latest moving in on the Nicki Minaj MTV T-Swift love hate triangle.
Everyone has been freaking out over Nicki Minaj expressing her thoughts about “Anaconda” not being nominated for the Video of the Year VMA and now Katy Perry’s gettin’ in the mix.
So to backtrack: Nicki has stated that she wasn’t talking about Taylor in her previous tweets which may or may not be trues, and yes, her Instagram post on a marie Claire article about the racial inequalities in the music biz is undeniable. So for a moment let’s put a pin in it as to whether Nicki did or did NOT mean to bash skilly white girls in her attempt to honor full figured black girls. We’re obviously fans of both artists and we’re also a fan of Katy Perry who’s rolling up her sleeves and getting involved. First, Katy tweeted: QUOTE - “Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman...” Who is she talking about? Is she saying that the media is pitting women against women then benefitting from the ensuing chaos? OR is she calling out Taylor Swift’s earlier tweet when SHE said to Nicki: “It’s unlike you to pit women against each other.” Is she saying it’s ironic to hear TAYLOR use that argument when she’s currently milking in on the success of her song Bad Blood which is allegedly about her beef with Katy? I’m confused and concerned and why are music’s most influential women going back and forth like this? Also, gotta love Katy for showing love to a video that WAS completely snubbed by the VMAs. AKA Bitch Better Have My Money. Katy tweeted: The real travesty is where is the shine for #BBHMMVideo when VMA eligibility period was 7/7/14-7/1/15 & that gem dropped 7/1... @MTV” Preach, woman. I just tweeted up a storm about that, too cuz Rihanna deserves some major love for that gem of a video. Ok guys, your turn. Who is Katy calling out with her tweet? The media or Taylor? And was Nicki shading Taylor? Cuz she IS the only nominee in that category that fits Nickis description?
