Kim Kardashian is receiving backlash once again, this time for releasing a Virgin Mary prayer candle as part of her merch with her own face depicting Mary. The image is sacred to many, so Kim’s take on it is definitely ruffling some feathers.
Kim Kardashian is no stranger to some scandalous controversy and definitely doesn’t have any reservations about pushing people’s buttons so the latest edition to her Kimoji merch doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. Along with a slew of new merch in honor of 4/20, Kim released a Virgin Mary candle with her own likeness depicted as Mary. The candle sells for 18 dollars but is costing Kim a lot more than just money. Upon tweeting the image of the candle yesterday, Twitter went in criticizing Kim for being insensitive and disrespectful toward Catholics.
One person tweeted – “@KimKardashian I don't think this is a fun emoji, for Catholics the Virgin Mary is Sacred.” Another said – “That is the most disrespectful thing i've ever seen.” Others had more of a sense of humor about the situation saying – “Funny but you are not virgin from anywhere baby.” It seems as though Kim is a fan of the image of the Virgin Mary seeing as though she was spotted stepping out of a Los Angeles restaurant wearing a sheer black dress with Mary’s image on her chest.
