Kim Kardashian just deleted a particularly controversial sponsored Instagram post because of a lot of backlash.
Oooo Kim…. read the room.
To no one’s surprise, Kim Kardashian is getting some flack yet again, this time for promoting an appetite suppressant lollipop.
She captioned the photo of her sucking on said lollipop QUOTE, “#ad You guys… @flattummyco just dropped a new product. They’re appetite suppressant lollipops and they’re literally unreal.” And she went on to say that the first 500 people to buy them would get 15% off.
The negative replies happened immediately with one user writing, “This is disgusting. Your fans are going to be seeing this and thinking that this is how to get your body. Eating is good for you, stop convincing people to literally starve themselves of food to get a flat tummy.”
And soon, the outrage took to twitter with Dr. Liam Hackett saying, “Eating disorders are a very real issue for a lot of young people and to see Kim Kardashian actively encouraging her fans to develop an unhealthy relationship with food is terrifying and gravely concerning.”
And then Jameela Jamil from The Good Place chimed in tweeting, “No. Fuck off. No. You terrible and toxic influence on young girls. I admire their mother’s branding capabilities, she is an exploitative but innovative genius, however this family makes me feel actual despair over what women are reduced to.”
With this storm of negativity, Kim deleted the photo from her page after only a few hours. However the last we checked, the promotion still appears on her Instagram story. We understand a brand deal, Kim but kind of odd that you only delete the post people can actively comment on.
The biggest criticism here is that Kim Kardashian is already one of the richest women in Hollywood, is promoting an appetite suppressant really an opportunity she needed to take?
