[KiniNews] Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu said Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should be relieved of his duty as the deputy prime minister, pending the conclusion of the court cases against him.
He said this is because Zahid's position in the government while he undergoes graft proceedings exerts undue pressure on the courts.
The former Perak menteri besar was commenting on Zahid's recent application to the Kuala Lumpur High Court to have his passport returned permanently to him to enable him to carry out his official duties as deputy prime minister.
Meanwhile, Umno information chief Isham Jalil has urged Faizal to focus on Bersatu's potential corruption charges over alleged misappropriation of government funds, rather than meddle in the Zahid's affairs.
"I suggest that you and your friends in the party prepare to be the 'court cluster 2.0' over allegations of vote buying and the country's biggest scandal involving misappropriation of government funds," he said.
